Ariana Grande hasn’t made a Met Gala appearance since 2018, and her anticipated return to the annual event did *not* disappoint.

The 2024 Met Gala Theme

Beautifully in line with Ari’s whimsical aesthetic, this year’s Met Gala theme is “The Garden of Time.” As always, the dress code is informed by the gallery’s featured exhibit, which so happens to be called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

In short, the exhibit features rare garments that are delicate — and often featured natural materials — which means it can be worn only once. The 2024 Met Gala, of course, brought with it more avant-garde looks that draw inspiration from the dreamy concept.

Ariana Grande’s Opalescent Gown

Dressed by Loewe in a white, near-holographic gown, the “we can’t be friends” singer looked like an IRL fairy princess on the carpeted steps. With a crisp, straight-edge neckline, Grande’s soft hourglass curves were on display by way of a corseted bodice.

Extending from the longline corset, Grande’s floor-length gown was subtly pleated and filled with movement akin to fluttering butterfly wings.

Along the structured bodice, other-worldly opalescent details sparkled against the paparazzi’s flashing light.

Beneath the sheer pleated skirt, Grande revealed a mauve-gray layer that added fairytale-esque dimension to her Met Gala look.

Her Ethereal Fairycore Glamour

When it comes to makeup, the “yes, and?” singer kept things noticeably fresh and minimal. Nevertheless, Grande brought all the fairycore vibes to her Met look with opal fairy wings adorned near the outer corners of her eyes.

Her makeup artist, Michael Anthony, used the multi-hyphenate’s very own makeup brand, r.e.m. beauty, to nail the look — including essentials like the sweetener foundation ($35), the interstellar highlighter topper in miss mercury ($25), the hypernova satin matte blush in pinking of you ($20), as well as the practically permanent lip stain marker in booked n busy ($17).

Grande styled her honey blonde hair into a ponytail, which, of course, has been the star’s signature look throughout her career.

This time, however, she showed her growth and maturity with a deep side part and super-sleek hair that extended towards her low back.
